Delivery of Hot Cell Technology for Working with Ionising Radiation Sources for SE Izotop Kiev
In March 2011, VF, a.s. successfully participated in the tender and signed a contract for the supply of hot cell technology to work with ionising radiation sources, which is being built in Kiev, Ukraine. Part of the work is to develop design documentation as well as the installation and commissioning of the delivered technology.
On the basis of this agreement, the funding of the project from German public funds, administered by the state organisation Bundesamt für Wehrtechnik und Beschaffung, was firmly pledged to the Ukrainian beneficiary. GRS (Gesellschaft für Anlagen-und Reaktorsicherheit) was entrusted with the project management. The company announced a private tender for two lots in late 2010: Lot 1 - strengthening the physical protection of the complex logistics of the IZOTOP enterprise and Lot 2 - setting up a facility for radioactive sources treatment – the so-called hot cell in isotopes stock. In the tender process against three German competitors, our company won the tender for the second lot, and in March 2011, we signed a contract for the supply of the hot cell.
The project was started in April 2011 with the demarcation of the site for the hot cell in the existing stock.
The scope of work included design activities, including calculations of biological shielding and securing the building statics, construction work, the supply and installation of hot cell technology (a radiation shielding window, sliding door with workbench, special manipulators, cranes, etc.), delivery of a radiochemical laboratory and measuring technology, complex testing, operator training and start-up work.
