The Jinshan NPP, built in 1978, is the oldest and smallest nuclear power plant in Taiwan. It has two boiling water reactors (BWRs) each with a capacity of 604 MW.
The process of decommissioning the plant started in 2018 and is expected to continue for the next 25 years.
During the decommissioning process, two VF Nuclear FRM-02 monitors will be used to measure gamma radiation-emitting radionuclides. These monitors will check whether the decommissioned material meets the legal requirements for environmentally free release or disposal as radioactive waste.
The FRM-02 monitors are designed to analyze the measurement results and determine whether the material can be released into the environment safely or not.✅
